Welcome to Fois a Chridhe All our summer 2020 weeks are now booked. We have availability from September 12th.
COVID-19 UPDATE For our visitors.
Uncertain and worrying times for us all. Below are links to websites that offer useful information as they become available. Much of the information below has come from the Scottish Tourism Alliance website who have a dedicated Covid-19 page. We are following the government's advice and I wanted to inform you of the measures we are taking to protect you, your families, our community and employees and reassure you about our T&Cs regarding booking/cancellation now that lock-down is starting to ease. We pride ourselves in the hygiene measures we already take, as you will know if you have stayed in the cottage before. A full deep clean is completed between bookings with all surfaces wiped down with antibacterial washes. However we have now intensified our efforts in line with the latest government advice. As well as continuing the deep cleaning schedule between change-overs, all beds will now be completely changed in terms of mattress protectors, pillow protectors, pillows and duvets between lets. We will ensure extra special care is taken regarding all common touch points such as door handles, taps, toilets and appliances. All curtains and floorings will also be steam cleaned between lets.
All our cleaning products meet the EN14476 coronavirus requirements and are available in the property for you to also ensure ongoing personal hygiene/cleaning for the duration of your stay at no extra cost. We have added some signs to help remind you to use these.
It is possible that we will leave you instructions rather than meet you face to face and payment etc is already possible by internet bank transfers etc. We suggest if you do not need to use all the rooms within the house you just stay within the rooms needed to help reduce risks. All windows will be left open between lets and a later arrival time of 6pm will now be required to give us additional time to make sure we have been thorough. At Fois a Chridhe we will do everything we can to care for our wonderful guests and valued team during this challenging time. We will continue to be reactive to health and government guidelines and assist you with your stay on the Road to the Isles. We will update this guidance as we can especially regarding the need to bring food with you or buy it at the various retail outlets available. Staying at this remote highland wilderness will only be sustainable if people take good care to follow the government guidance and in doing that you will protect this very special community. We might be just the bolt hole you need to get a way from it all. However if you prefer to minimise any non-essential travel and social contact we will be happy to postpone your booking until later in the year. Dates will obviously depend on availability. Just call me if you need advice. (My contact details are on the how to Book Tab above and I have updated the Terms and Conditions).
A warm highland experience awaits your arrival.

Fois a Chridhe (‘Hearts at peace’ in Gaelic) is a luxury three bedroom, modern cottage nestled within the tranquil village of Morar in Inverness-shire. The cottage is a few minutes walk from the famous ‘Silver sands of Morar’, and a 5 minute drive away from the superb Camusdarroch beach of ‘Local Hero’ fame.
Fois a Chridhe is beautifully finished and is the perfect blend of modern convenience and traditional charm, which appeals to adults and children alike. The cottage benefits from most modern amenities, including oil fired central heating throughout. The latter makes it a cosy retreat whatever the time of year. In addition gas and electricity, towels and bed linen are included. The cottage has adjacent parking, and an enclosed garden with a decking area for enjoying the out-of-doors. In addition the local play park is situated close by along with the local football pitch. (Please note for safety reasons young children should not be left unattended).
For the comfort of all our visitors Fois a Chridhe operates a strict NO Smoking policy.
(Visit Scotland awarded Fois a Chridhe a three star plus award at our quality and standards inspection for 2010. Feedback from our guests has been overwelming and we know you will not be dissapointed. Some comments from our visitors are included below. During the inspection we also gained a Walkers welcome and Children welcome status.)
Some feedback we have received:
'The house was perfect in every sense. We went in February and took books to read, but there was too much to see and do. The swimming pool in Mallaig has a sauna and jacuzzi & an inflatable island during fun periods. The Heritage Centre next to the railway station is informative and tells us about the covert secret training that went on during WWII. Recommend the book in the Fois a Chridhe bookcase "Commando Country" that brings this serene quiet area alive with history. The property is brilliant and the special touches everywhere will delight young and old alike. A very high standard for your money and you won't be disappointed.A week wasn't enough. The kids will remeber this well into their adulthood. A word of warning. Read the leaflet on Prince Charlies Cave nr Arisaig, before you spend 4 hours trying to find it from the road maps.Loads of information available at the property'. (Barry,Julie & family,Edinburgh, February 2011).
